A too large dress can be
changed by taking out
extra layers and changing
waistline from gathers to
pleats

Here is two examples of
ways to lengthen hem on
dress:
  • Fabric was taken
    from train and added
    to bottom of dress
  • White satin ruffle put
    at bottom of lace
    gown
Two ways to make dress
larger:
  • Add fabric gusset at
    side seams (We were
    able to use appliques
    and beadwork to
    match dress).
  • Remove zipper and
    add corset back with
    modesty panel
Sleeves can be
lengthened on
wedding dress using
tiers for unique effect
Halter dress was too long
and bunched at waist.
Altered to fit petite
bridesmaid. Shortened
halter straps, reduced
width of waistband and
changed gathers at waist
to pleats.
Straps or sleeves can
be added to strapless
dress
Hem can be shortened
and train removed for
petite bride or informal
wedding.
Another way to have a
train is to have bow sash
which can be made into
large bow at reception or
have removable train.
Dress can also be
shortened from floor
length to knee length or
any length you desire
